Children's Book Design

01. Children’s Book Design

You’re a children’s book author and you’ve got the story - the characters, their world and the heart behind it all. Now you need someone to bring it to life visually, in a way that will be as memorable as the words themselves. Whether it's illustration, layout, cover design or the whole package, I'd love to collaborate with you on a book that kids (and grown-ups) will reach for again and again.

Specifically seeking 2 to 6 age range (hardcover picture book)

Relevant experience: I have two children myself and am an absolute SUCKER for a beautifully designed children’s book, so we have an extensive library. I’d like to say that it’s just for them, but it’s also a deep love for print, embellishments and paper stocks that it’s also *research* for me ;) I am currently working on my first children’s book project but I can’t quite reveal anything, just yet ;)

02. Gin Distillery

A G&T is my drink of choice, so of course I’ve sampled them all ;) The gin industry has evolved into a very broad market, so branding a gin label is about hitting that sweet spot between craft, story and shelf presence. I want to design a gin label that makes it undeniably “pick-up-able”… the kind that draws your customer in and chooses your bottle off the shelf before they've even read the name.

Relevant experience: I have been lucky to work with a wine label distributor in creating brand identities and wine labels for Bloom + Yetto, however I really want to scratch my gin label itch ;)

+ LET’S BE-GIN (okay, yes, I can admit it’s a lame joke, but I digress)

You’re a home cook / a pastry chef / a nutritionist experimenting with your own recipes and you’ve got an idea for a cookbook that you just can’t shake.
I have a deep admiration for this industry; the creativity, the time management skills, the patience… I want to live vicariously through your talents! The cover, layout, photography, typography - every detail tells the reader what kind of cook you are - let's make your book something they'll gift, dog-ear and treasure forever.

Relevant experience: I have worked alongside a number of professional photographers and designed various of publications in my 15+ years as a designer including many high-end brochures, booklets and magazines. A project like this is an extension of that work.

Brand Identity & Packaging for Grazers by On the Upside

04. FMCG Branding + Packaging

Retail packaging is one of the most exciting design challenges there is. You have seconds to stop someone mid-aisle and choose your product over someone else’s. I live for that challenge. If you've got a product that's ready to be seen (and bought), let's create a brand and packaging that will make your product the only choice.

Relevant experience: Throughout my design career I have been lucky to design various packaging materials for new and existing brands. More recently, my partnership with Grazers was where I developed a broader understanding of the FMCG industry - and now I want MORE! Working with the crew (of the hugely successful Jim’s Jerky brand), I developed the brand identity and packaging for their Biltong products.

05. Hospitality Branding

You’re a coffee shop / restaurant / bar owner who is bringing a little something different to the table (no pun intended). In this industry, your brand is all about *a feeling*, before the customer even walks through the door. From your brand identity, to menus to signage to packaging, I want to help you create a brand that keeps people talking and coming back.

Relevant experience: I have worked on various projects throughout my design career in the food and beverage industries, requiring multiple touch points. For brand recognition, cohesion is extremely important in the hospitality industry so developing brand identities that do just that, is my jam! Yes… I’m that girl, who regularly frequents establishments for “research” purposes. You better believe I’ll be casting my design eye over every element of your branding and menu design before I’ve even looked at the food ;)

06. Children’s Wear Label Design

You’ve worked hard on bringing your vision children’s wear to life with your incredible clothing designs and your brand needs to feel as considered as the pieces themselves. From brand identity, swing tags, look-book to website, or the actual clothing designs themselves (typographic / graphic / surface pattern), I’m your gal.

Relevant experience: I have worked on fashion label design before (brand identity, swing tags, marketing collateral) however a children’s wear label would be the ultimate FUN! I love to create t-shirt designs for my family (as seen here LENNY The LABEL, using my son’s own handwriting), so I’d be thrilled to bits to work on a project “for real life” (if you get that reference then we absolutely need to chat).
